Create eLearning Resources

About this page

This provides a breakdown of the different steps in the eLearning creation process at the University of Guelph library and maps it to the ADDIE instructional design model.

This is also displayed visually on the eLearning Service Map.

Step 1: Analyze

  1. Library staff complete and submit an eLearning Intake form.

  2. CAST reviews requests, assigns staff lead.

For Course Guide requests or Minor edits

  1. CAST staff completes reuqest, updates tracking list, and emails employee contact who submitted the form

For New objects or Major revisions

  1. CAST staff reviews submitted form and updates eLearning tracking list, creates project folder
  2. CAST staff schedules a consultation,
  3. During the consultation, CAST staff collaboratively completes the Consultation Template with content leads.Analysis may determine an existing OER can be adapted. CAST staff can support library employees with OER adaption by:
    1. suggesting where and how to search for OER
    2. assessing team needs from an OER
    3. Actions to take if no CC license
      1. CAST staff can reach out to request permission if there isn't an open license.
    4. Evaluating OER and what would it take to adapt, including an accessibility accessment, open media, and platform

  2. Library employees share their draft with the CAST lead. CAST lead reviews content for accessibility, organization, consistency, and platform/format compatability.
  3. CAST staff emails feedback to content creators. If necessary, employees and CAST lead will meet to discuss feedback.
  4. Additional revisions as needed.
  5. CAST staff review final content provided by staff to identify any accessibility issues or concerns.

NOTE: CAST does not facilitate feedback on content. Library employees are entitled to seek feedback from colleagues before submitting the final draft to CAST.
