Create Video & Audio Clips

Kanopy

To create a clip

  1. Access Kanopy on the guide
  2. Create an account
  3. Create a playlist
  4. Select a title.
  5. Click “Create clip/Playlist”
  6. Click “Add Video” to the chosen playlist
  7. Click “Edit playlist”

  1. Click "Edit".

  1. Give your clip a title and a description (optional)
  2. To choose your segments, you can
    • Play the film and click the first “Capture button” when you want the recording to start and then click the second “Capture button” when you want the clip to end. This will give you the start and end time of the clip.  Then click “Save Clip”.
    • If you already know the start and end time of the clip, just type the numbers into the time fields and click “Save Clip

  1. The clip will be available in your playlists.

To create a playlist

You can use one clip or combine clips from different films into one playlist

  1. If you want multiple clips from the same film, you will need to duplicate the film in your playlist and create separate clips.
  2. You can find this on the “Edit Playlist” screen. Underneath the “Edit” button is an option to Duplicate
  3. Share your playlist by clicking the Share/Embed icon on the playlist page.

Films on Demand

To create a clip

  1. Select a title.
  2. Most titles are already broken into segments, but you can make smaller segments by clicking the scissor icon under the title

  1. Input the start and end time
  2. or drag the marker on the scrubber bar to where you would like your clip to start and click “Set Start Time.” Then drag the marker again to where you’d like it to end and hit “Set End Time.”
  3. Or click “Use Transcript” and select then highlight portions of the transcript text. Start and end times will be automatically populated.  
  4. Provide a title (required) and description (optional) and then click “Create Segment.”
  5. Choose the thumbnail image by scrolling to an image in the film and then clicking the “Set Thumbnail” button.

  1. You can find your clip at the bottom of the segments list on the right hand side or in the menu under  My Films > My Custom Clips

To create a playlist

  1. Add your custom segment, but selecting it on the main video page in the list of segments and clicking “Add to” and then selecting the appropriate playlist
  2. Combine segments already created by the platform and your own custom segments within playlists.
  3. Share your playlist by clicking the share or embed link under the list on the playlist page

To create a clip

  1. Register for an account and login
  2. Select your title
  3. On the main page of the title, there are tabs above the embedded video. Click “Clips”

  1. Click “Make a Clip”
  2. Type in the time for the beginning and end of the clip or press play and scroll through the video to find the part you would like to include.
  3. Then click “Start clip” at the beginning and “Stop clip” when you would like the clip to end.
  4. Give your clip a title, description and category tags
  5. Choose your sharing level: Keep Private, Share with others at your institution, Share with everybody
  6. Click “Save Clip”

  1. Find your clips under My Account > Clips

To create a playlist

  1. Insure that you are logged in
  2. Add custom clips or full videos to a playlist by
    • Going into your account, going the the “Clips” tab and click the “+” beside the clip to add to a playlist. Choose if you want your playlist to be private or shared with the institution.
    • Clicking “Add to Playlist” which appears above the embedded video.
  3. If you click on your playlist, the left column will provide an institution or public URL to the playlist that you can share with others.

To create a clip

  1. In order to create a Campus account, you will need to contact the library to get an access key (link above)
  2. Login to your account
  3. Select your video
  4. Find the scissor icon under the description

  1. Click “Create a Chapter”
  2. Move the green toggles to the start and end point of your clip
  3. Give your chapter a name (required) and description (optional)
  4. Click save

  1. Find your chapters on the left Menu under just above the sign out link

To create a playlist

  1. Once you have created a clip, there will be an option to Add to a playlist
  2. Or find your chapters on the menu (above the sign-out link on the left menu), and click the clock icon to add the chapter to a playlist.
  3. Click on your playlist and look for the share button at the top right of the page.

To create a clip

  1. Create an account

  3. A green and red flag will appear on the time bar. Move the flags to the proper start and end points.

    • Everyone at my institution
    • Everyone
  3. Click save
  4. Find your clips on the video’s page on the “Clips” tab
    • Or on the menu under clips > the sharing level you saved them

  3. You can then select “Playlist” and choose which playlist to send your clips.

To create a playlist

  1. To create an account, you need to obtain an access code from the library (link above).
  2. Once you have your account, you can login to create playlists.
  3. Locate the item and click on the title
  4. Click “Add to playlist”

  1. Give the playlist a name and click the +
  2. Make sure the box is checked beside the playlist title
  3. Once added, a message should appear saying the item has been added to the playlist
  4. Close the box by clicking x.

  1. To see your playlist, click on Account on the black bar across the top of the screen.
  2. Once in your account screen, click on Playlists and then choose the playlist from the dropdown menu on the right.
  3. Share your playlist by grabbing the permalink or embedding code from the bottom of the page.

To create a playlist

  1. Click “Playlists” on the menu
  2. On the Student/Member Playlists bar, click “Sign up” and register for an account. You will need to confirm your account through your email.

  1. On the Student/Member Playlists bar, click “Sign up” and register for an account. You will need to confirm your account through your email.
  2. Choose if you want it to be a personal playlist or a public playlist
    • You can add new playlists to University of Guelph Playlists to make accessible to the larger community
  3. Click “New folder” and give your folder a name
  4. Click “New Playlist” and give your playlist a name

  1. Search for the titles you would like to add to your playlist. Select the tracks or the whole album and then click “Add to Playlist” on the left hand menu.
  2. Confirm the destination of your tracks and click “Add to playlist”

  1. Once you have added tracks to your playlist, you can rearrange your list by selecting the tack and them using the move up and move down buttons at the top of the list.
