Find Article Metrics

What are Article Metrics?

  • Article metrics are based on the number of times an article is cited

What is the citation count?

  • The number of times an article has been cited

Where else can I find article citation counts?

What are the challenges of citation tracking?

  • Impact measures provided by citation tracking databases only include citations by articles indexed in that database, so they won’t be comprehensive
  • The number of citations may not be accurate, because of mistakes made by authors when citing.  Databases won’t catch those mistakes.
  • Impact measures used by one database may not be available in other databases for comparison

What are Article-Level Metrics?

These metrics can be used to determine the true impact of an article, by its influence on the public as well as the scholarly community
